Why we picked this

Two days of trail and fence work along one of Colorado's most scenic river corridors — meals and camping included. The kind of weekend you'll still be talking about in October.

This two-day VOC project tackles a 2-mile trail loop along the Uncompahgre River in Ouray, spreading and compacting crushed gravel on sections that have broken down over time, plus restoring 2,600 feet of fencing that marks the boundary between public and private land along the corridor. Day 1 (May 30) runs 8am–4pm; Day 2 (May 31) wraps up at noon.

Camping and all meals are included — bring your tent, sleeping gear, and layers for the mountain elevation. The Uncompahgre River Walk is one of the more scenic VOC project settings, a gorge-flanked trail that gets heavy community use. The fence and drainage work directly improves safety and the long-term health of the route.

Moderate physical demands; age 16+. No prior trail work experience required. VOC provides tools, gloves, and all project materials.
