Why we picked this

Hands-on trail construction clinic covering climbing turns, retaining walls, and erosion prevention — taught by OSI instructors in the field near Granby. Serves as prep for the Hogback Trail Reroute the following day.

Spend a full day in the field near Granby learning advanced trail construction techniques directly from OSI-certified instructors. The curriculum covers climbing turns, retaining walls, timber steps, and steep-trail construction methods — skills directly applicable to the Hogback Trail Reroute project the following weekend. Participants study existing rock structures and drainage features on-site, learning to read terrain and apply sustainable solutions.

This is an outdoor, all-weather training. Come prepared for a full day on your feet with sun exposure and varied terrain. The exact meeting location is shared with registered volunteers approximately two weeks in advance. Free camping is provided for the nights of June 25–26, making it easy to arrive the evening before and stay over for the Hogback project if you wish. Bring your own food and water for the training day.

Volunteers must be 16 or older. No prior trail construction experience is required, but a moderate fitness level is expected — you’ll be studying and practicing techniques on real trail, not in a classroom. Register by June 24. VOC provides all tools and instruction.
