Why we picked this
Day 2 of the Hidden Valley reroute near Boulder — pick up where the September crew left off, digging tread and shaping a brand-new trail through Boulder Valley Ranch.
This is the second workday on VOC’s Hidden Valley Trail reroute near Boulder, following up on the September session. Volunteers clear vegetation to define the trail corridor, then dig and remove dirt to bring the surface to proper grade. Work runs 8 AM to 4 PM and involves lifting, digging, shoveling, and moving soil and rocks — physical demands range from easy to difficult depending on the task you’re assigned.
The worksite is about a half-mile hike from the parking area through a sun-exposed section, so bring sun protection and plenty of water. No prior trail-building experience is needed; VOC staff lead the project and match volunteers to tasks based on ability. Bring your own lunch.
Ages 14 and up; volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult 21 or older. Register by October 5 — 44 spots are open. The site is 2WD accessible, and a 2026 liability waiver is required.
