This two-day workshop teaches crosscut saw techniques for safely removing downed trees from trails in wilderness and backcountry settings where motorized tools aren’t permitted. Participants cover tool care, maintenance, bucking principles, and field skills, with the opportunity to earn USDA Forest Service crosscut certification up to “B” skill level.
Both days are required (May 30–31, 8 AM–4 PM). Valid first aid/CPR certification must be in hand before the class — the registration confirmation will include details on how to meet that requirement if needed.
Cost is $60 per person. Scholarships were available (deadline passed), but contact Kelly Clouse at kclouse@voc.org if cost is a barrier. Exact location near Fort Collins is shared after payment is processed.
