Why we picked this

A Tuesday morning garden planting in southwest Denver where the harvest goes to food banks and shelters — you may leave with seeds or seedlings, and no gardening experience is needed.

Volunteers plant vegetable gardens at Christ the King Church in southwest Denver, guided by Grow Local Colorado staff. The planted vegetables are harvested in fall and donated to local food banks and homeless shelters. You’ll learn about what’s being planted and why it thrives in Denver conditions — and may receive seeds or seedlings to take home when the shift wraps.

Ages 8 and up are welcome, with youth under 16 accompanied by an adult 21 or older. Register through the VOC portal; registration deadline is May 25. No pets on site.

The location is at 2300 S Patton Ct in Denver’s Harvey Park neighborhood. This event is organized through Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado’s Grow Local Colorado partnership.
