Trail maintenance at Cascade Falls Park in Ouray
Build rock structures and prevent erosion on the Cascade Falls trail in the San Juan Mountains. Camping and meals provided for the weekend project.
Why we picked this
Two days of rock work at Cascade Falls in Ouray β building level gathering areas and erosion barriers in a spectacular mountain setting. Camping at Rotary Park and meals included.
The Cascade Falls trail gets significant foot traffic, and with it comes erosion that pushes visitors off the path and into surrounding vegetation. This VOC weekend project focuses on building rock structures β level gathering areas and erosion barriers β to protect the trail corridor and keep the waterfall experience intact.
Volunteers work Saturday and Sunday, with camping available at Rotary Park and meals provided on both days. Ages 16 and up are welcome. Bring layers, sturdy boots, and water β Ouray sits at 7,700 feet and weather can shift. VOC provides tools, training, and on-site crew leadership.
Ouray is one of Coloradoβs most scenic mountain towns, and volunteering here means spending a weekend working outdoors in surroundings most people only pass through. The trail work is physically real β expect rock lifting and moving β but no previous experience is needed.
