The South Cove Trail at Button Rock Preserve has been severely eroded in multiple sections, with portions collapsing into the reservoir. This two-day project (June 20–21, 8 AM–4 PM) focuses on defining stable trail tread, improving drainage features, building small reroutes, and assisting with retaining wall construction to halt the collapse.
This is an overnight camping project — free meals and campsites are included for both nights. Located in the Front Range North region near Lyons, the preserve is a gem of the Boulder County open space system. Cell service may be spotty; pets are not allowed on the project.
Ages 16 and older; youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult 21+. Difficult physical difficulty level — expect full workdays with heavy material handling. The project is currently listed as full, but spots occasionally open — check the signup link for availability.
