Why we picked this

A three-hour trail session where you can see real before-and-after results — the organizers bring gloves, tools, and coffee. Parking is easy on weekends and the park itself is worth the trip.

You’ll spend the morning clearing invasive blackberry and English ivy from two trail sections near the park’s south meadow. Seattle Parks Foundation staff lead the work and match every volunteer to a task that fits their physical comfort level — whether that’s hauling brush, pulling roots, or guiding newer participants. No gardening background needed.

Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting muddy. The foundation provides work gloves, pruning loppers, tarps, and bags. There’s a porta-potty on site and free street parking along 36th Ave W. Bus riders can take the 33 from downtown — it drops you a five-minute walk from the main entrance.

This is a kid-friendly event for ages 10 and up. Groups of up to 20 are welcome; just email the organizer in advance so they can plan tool sets accordingly. The morning wraps by noon, leaving plenty of time to walk the bluff trail and catch the view before you head home.
