Why we picked this

This is post-fire recovery work at exposed sites like Deer Mountain and Lily Lake — hand seeding ground that burned, not routine upkeep.

Volunteers help restore plant communities by reseeding fire-damaged areas of Rocky Mountain National Park at exposed sites including Deer Mountain and Lily Lake (subject to change). Work involves hiking short distances up to several miles, scarifying soil by raking, hand seeding at specific rates, and gathering and spreading on-site mulch material.

Meet in the outdoor plaza in front of Beaver Meadows Visitor Center, 1000 U.S. 36, Estes Park; transportation to the work site is provided via shuttle.

Bring layers and rain gear for variable weather, sun protection, long sleeves and pants, sturdy closed-toe shoes, lunch, snacks, two-plus liters of water, and a day pack. Bathroom access is limited on site, and full-day attendance is expected. Open to volunteers 18 and up.
