Habitat Heroes volunteer day at Rocky Mountain National Park
Pull invasive species from Rocky Mountain National Park meadows and forests with Rocky Mountain Conservancy. Shuttle provided, moderately strenuous, 18+.
Why we picked this
Same crew, same mission as the Sep 2 session β good backup date if that one fills up, or a second outing if one wasn't enough.
Volunteers remove invasive plant species threatening Rocky Mountain National Parkβs native vegetation. Led by park staff, participants learn identification and removal techniques while contributing to ecosystem restoration and biodiversity preservation.
Meet in the outdoor plaza at Beaver Meadows Visitor Center, 1000 U.S. 36, Estes Park; volunteers are shuttled via vans into the park. Work is moderately strenuous, covering potentially several miles of varied terrain in meadows and forests, using hand tools such as shovels and pruners.
Bring layered, weather-appropriate clothing and rain gear, sun protection, long sleeves, long pants, sturdy closed-toe shoes, lunch, snacks, and at least two liters of water. Bathrooms may be inaccessible during the event, and full attendance is required β weather may shorten or cancel the day. Open to volunteers 18 and up.
