Why we picked this

Saturday shifts at the Aurora warehouse are popular with families — kids 10 and up can join, and the three hours of sorting work has a straightforward, satisfying rhythm.

Saturday morning warehouse shifts run 8:45am to noon at Food Bank of the Rockies’ Aurora facility. The work is the same as weekday shifts — sorting, inspecting, and packing donated food — but the Saturday time slot works well for anyone with a weekday schedule.

Families are welcome. Ages 10 and up can participate, with adults required for volunteers under 16. Groups of up to 30 are accommodated. Register in advance through VolunteerHub; walk-ins aren’t accepted.

The facility is at 20600 E 38th Ave in Aurora. Bring closed-toe shoes. Parking is on site.
