Why we picked this
The reliable morning option at Colorado's largest food bank — show up at 8:45, sort food for three hours, and know exactly what you moved before noon.
Food Bank of the Rockies runs morning warehouse shifts Monday through Saturday at their main Aurora facility. Volunteers sort food donations, inspect items, and pack boxes for distribution across Colorado and Wyoming. Shifts run 8:45 AM to noon — three hours, with up to 30 volunteers per morning session.
Ages 10 and up are welcome; anyone under 16 must come with a supervising adult. Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dusty — lifting up to 30 pounds is part of the job. Register in advance through VolunteerHub; walk-ins are not accepted. Plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early.
Food Bank of the Rockies distributes over 100 million pounds of food annually. About 75% of sorting and packing is done by volunteer crews. The Aurora warehouse is at 20600 E 38th Ave with free parking on site.
