Why we picked this

Four hours of sorting and packing in a warehouse that moves millions of pounds of food each year — comfortable shoes matter, everything else is provided.

Warehouse shifts at Food Bank of the Rockies involve sorting donated items, repacking bulk goods, and moving product for distribution to partner agencies across Colorado. The work is physical — expect to be on your feet, lifting boxes and pushing carts — and well-organized with clear instructions from staff.

Morning shifts run 8:45 AM to noon at the Aurora warehouse, 20600 E 38th Ave. Closed-toe shoes are required. Groups of up to 30 are welcome with advance registration through VolunteerHub. No walk-ins.

In a typical session, a team of volunteers can sort and pack thousands of pounds of food. You’ll see the throughput on a counter as the shift winds down.
