Afternoon warehouse shift at Food Bank of the Rockies
Sort and repack donated food at the Aurora warehouse on the last day of July, 1:00–4:00 PM. Physical work at distribution scale. Ages 10+.
Why we picked this
The last afternoon shift of July — closing the month on the sorting floor at a facility that moves food to agencies across the state. Same volume, same direct impact as any other day.
Volunteers at this Friday afternoon shift work the sorting floor at Food Bank of the Rockies in Aurora on the final day of July, processing food donations — checking dates and product quality, pulling items that can’t be distributed, and repacking bulk goods into family-appropriate portions. What’s sorted here supplies partner agencies and food pantries throughout Colorado.
The shift is physically active: standing, lifting, carting product, and maintaining the sorting line’s pace for three hours. Closed-toe shoes are required; warehouse rules don’t allow sandals or open-toed footwear. Shift: 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Up to 20 volunteers per afternoon shift, and group registration is supported through VolunteerHub. All sign-ups must be made in advance — no walk-ins accepted. Minimum age 10; anyone under 16 must have a supervising adult present throughout the shift.
