Afternoon warehouse shift at Food Bank of the Rockies
Sort donated food and repack bulk goods at the Aurora warehouse from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Physical work at regional distribution scale. Ages 10+.
Why we picked this
Wednesday afternoon late in July β three hours of sorting and packing at a facility that moves food to Colorado agencies year-round. The afternoon slot opens this up to people with flexible schedules.
Volunteers at this Wednesday afternoon shift work on the sorting floor at Food Bank of the Rockies in Aurora, processing food donations by checking quality and expiration dates, removing items that canβt be used, consolidating inventory, and repacking bulk goods into family-sized portions for distribution. The network this supports stretches to partner agencies and food pantries throughout Colorado.
The shift is physically active throughout: standing, lifting boxes, pushing loaded carts, and working the sorting line. Closed-toe shoes are required; warehouse policy prohibits sandals and open-toed footwear. Shift: 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Up to 20 volunteers per afternoon shift, with group registration through VolunteerHub. All sign-ups must be completed in advance β walk-ins not accepted. Minimum age 10; anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a supervising adult throughout the shift.
