Afternoon warehouse shift at Food Bank of the Rockies
Work a food sorting and repacking line at the Aurora warehouse, 1:00–4:00 PM. Physical work at distribution scale. Groups welcome. Ages 10+.
Why we picked this
Thursday afternoon in a major regional food distribution facility — the warehouse operates at a scale where even a single well-staffed afternoon shift means thousands of pounds of food processed.
This Thursday afternoon shift at Food Bank of the Rockies in Aurora puts volunteers on the warehouse sorting floor, working through donated food — inspecting quality and dates, pulling expired or damaged product, consolidating inventory, and repacking bulk goods into family-appropriate quantities for distribution throughout Colorado.
Expect physical work throughout the shift: standing, lifting boxes, maneuvering loaded carts, and keeping pace on the sorting line alongside other volunteers. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory; no sandals or open-toed footwear in the warehouse. The shift runs 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Up to 20 volunteers per afternoon shift. Group registration is supported through VolunteerHub. All sign-ups must be made in advance — no walk-ins. Minimum age 10; anyone under 16 needs a supervising adult present throughout the shift.
