Afternoon warehouse shift at Food Bank of the Rockies
Sort, inspect, and repack donated food at the Aurora warehouse from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Physical distribution-scale work. Groups up to 20. Ages 10+.
Why we picked this
Afternoon shift on a Wednesday β same warehouse throughput as morning, different time. The volume here is regional; this isn't a small pantry operation but a major distribution center.
Volunteers at this Wednesday afternoon shift work on the sorting floor at Food Bank of the Rockies in Aurora, moving through food donations β checking dates and product quality, pulling items that donβt meet standards, and repacking bulk goods into family-sized portions for distribution. Food Bank of the Rockies operates at regional scale, supplying partner agencies throughout Colorado and neighboring states.
The work is steady and physical throughout: standing, lifting, loading and pushing carts, and maintaining the pace of the sorting line for three hours. Closed-toe shoes are required in the warehouse β no sandals or open-toed footwear. Shift runs 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Afternoon shifts support up to 20 volunteers. Group registration is available through VolunteerHub. Walk-ins are not accepted β advance registration required. Minimum age 10; anyone under 16 must have a supervising adult present for the full shift.
