Wiggly Worms: Make and Take Worm Bin workshop at Posner Center
Volunteer at DUG's Make and Take Worm Bin workshop — help participants assemble their own vermicomposting bin and learn to care for a worm colony at home. Kid-friendly.
Why we picked this
Help participants build and take home their own worm bin — a Saturday morning that ends with everyone leaving with live worms and a working vermicomposting setup. Great for kids.
The Make and Take version of DUG’s Wiggly Worms workshop goes one step further than the classroom: participants don’t just learn about vermicomposting, they assemble their own bin and take it home with them. By the end of the two-hour session, everyone leaves with a working worm bin ready to start composting kitchen scraps.
Volunteers help with setup, assist participants (especially kids) as they drill holes, add bedding, and introduce worms to their new home, and support the DUG educator running the session. The workshop runs from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on a Saturday morning.
Posner Center is DUG’s main workshop venue in Denver. The Wiggly Worms workshop series is among DUG’s most family-friendly programs — the October Make and Take session is especially good for households looking to start composting indoors before winter.
