Why we picked this

The 2nd Saturday of every month at Samuels β€” two hours of communal garden work, then time to tend your own plot or stick around and talk. A genuinely neighborly morning.

Every second Saturday of the month from 9 to 11am, the Samuels Community Garden community gathers to take care of the shared spaces. Sometimes it’s a specific project β€” building something, fixing something, improving a communal bed. Sometimes it’s weeding and turning the compost piles. After two hours of group work, you’re free to tend your own plot or just hang around.

This is one of those recurring events that turns strangers into neighbors. Family-friendly with no experience needed β€” show up in clothes you can get dirty, bring a reusable water bottle, and you’re all set.

Upcoming dates in 2026: May 9, June 13, July 11, August 8, September 12 β€” all 9am–11am. Register through the link for your first time; contact Sue Mathison at samuelsgarden2011@gmail.com with questions.
