Nature Journaling: Seeds and Seed Pods at Rose Roots Community Garden in Arvada
Volunteer at a fall nature journaling workshop at Rose Roots Community Garden in Arvada — help participants sketch seed pods and explore botanical illustration outdoors.
Why we picked this
Help facilitate a seed pod sketching session in the garden at Rose Roots — fall morning in Arvada, focused on the details of dried seed heads and seed pods. Part of DUG's nature journaling series.
The fall edition of DUG’s Nature Journaling series moves to Rose Roots Community Garden in Arvada, where the late September garden is full of dried seed heads and pods. Participants sketch what they observe — the intricate structures of seed pods, dried flower heads, and late-season garden forms — learning basic botanical illustration technique in the process.
Volunteers help set up materials, support participants during the sketching activities, and assist the DUG facilitator. The session runs from 9:00 to 11:00 AM on a Saturday morning.
Rose Roots Community Garden is at 8412 Alkire St in Arvada, in Jefferson County northwest of Denver. The garden is part of DUG’s extended metro network, and the fall nature journaling session takes advantage of the unique visual interest of the garden at the end of the growing season.
