Opening workday at KCAA Community Garden — evening
Help get KCAA Community Garden ready for the growing season: weeding, clearing pathways, and prepping planting areas. Evening workday, April 15. Family-friendly, ages 10+.
Why we picked this
A weeknight garden prep session with real gardeners getting their space ready for the season — show up at 5, work until 8, leave knowing planting is happening this week.
KCAA Community Garden’s opening workday runs Wednesday evening from 5 PM to 8 PM — an after-work option for people who want to get some outdoor time and do something useful with it. The work is classic seasonal prep: digging out weeds, clearing blocked pathways, and prepping planting areas that have been dormant through winter. 12 volunteer spots are available. Water and light snacks are provided.
Wear clothes you can work in, bring gloves if you have them, and expect to get a bit dirty. The garden is in Harvey Park South at the corner of S Patton Ct and W Iliff Ave — street parking is available nearby. Children are welcome (ages 10+). The event is canceled in inclement weather, so check in with DUG if the forecast looks iffy.
KCAA is one of Denver’s community gardens run in partnership with Denver Urban Gardens, meaning it’s a shared space where neighbors grow food together. Opening workdays are how the garden goes from dormant to active — the volunteer labor that makes the growing season possible.
