Volunteer at From Hive to Honey: A Honey Collecting Experience at Posner Center
Help run DUG's honey collecting workshop at Posner Center — participants learn about beekeeping, extract honey from frames, and understand the full hive-to-jar process. Kid-friendly.
Why we picked this
Help run a honey extraction workshop — participants learn how bees make honey and actually extract it from frames. A Saturday morning that's especially good for kids who want to see where their honey comes from.
From Hive to Honey takes participants through the full story of how honey gets from a beehive into a jar. The workshop covers hive biology, the role of bees in a garden ecosystem, how honey is harvested, and the extraction process — and participants get hands-on with actual frames, extractors, and finished honey.
Volunteers help with setup, support participants (especially children) during the hands-on extraction activities, and assist the DUG educator. The session runs from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on a Saturday morning.
Posner Center is DUG’s main workshop venue in Denver. The honey workshop is one of the more popular kid-friendly sessions in the fall calendar, connecting urban gardening to the broader urban agriculture and pollinator stewardship work DUG does across its 180+ garden network.
