Weed, move compost, improve watering systems, and organize the tool shed at this Aurora community garden. Snacks and drinks provided. Recurring through fall.
Why we picked this
A proper garden workday β weeding, moving compost, fixing irrigation, and organizing β at a community garden that donates its harvest. Snacks and drinks on-site.
The Hinkley High School Community Garden is in full growing mode, and this service day covers the essentials: weeding and maintaining common areas and donation plots, moving compost and mulch, improving the watering system, organizing the tool shed, and general cleanup. Itβs hands-on garden work with a clear purpose β produce from this garden is donated to food-access organizations.
Bring gloves, a hat, and sunscreen. Snacks and drinks will be provided on site. Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty. No experience required β just show up ready to work.
The garden is at 1094 Chambers Ct in Aurora. Additional workdays run two to three times monthly through the fall season. Register through the DUG volunteer portal.
