Season kickoff at Hinkley High School Community Garden
Gather for light planning and cleanup at this Aurora community garden to kick off the 2026 growing season. Simple tasks, a look at the year ahead, and good company.
Why we picked this
A low-key season opener โ light cleanup, introductions, and a look at what the garden will grow this year. Good for newcomers who want to see the space before committing to a full workday.
The Hinkley High School Community Garden kicks off its 2026 growing season with a light gathering for planning, introductions, and simple cleanup to prepare the site. This opening day is a good chance to meet the gardenโs regular volunteers and get oriented to the space before the heavier workdays begin.
This is a more casual event than a standard workday โ volunteer hours on-site will be limited, but youโll leave with a clear sense of how the garden operates and whatโs coming up throughout the season. Regular workdays run two to three times monthly from here through fall.
The garden is at 1094 Chambers Ct in Aurora. Register through the DUG volunteer portal and the team will send details before the event.
