Why we picked this

Help run a hands-on gourmet mushroom workshop — participants inoculate logs or substrate and learn the basics of cultivating oyster and shiitake mushrooms. More technical than the intro session.

Growing Gourmet Mushrooms is the more advanced offering in DUG’s mushroom cultivation series — where the June session introduces home growing with kits, this October workshop goes deeper into gourmet varieties. Participants learn to inoculate substrate or logs with mushroom spawn, understand the fruiting conditions for different species, and set up a system for ongoing home production.

Volunteers help with setup, assist participants during the hands-on inoculation activities, and support the DUG educator leading the class. The session runs from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on a Monday evening.

Posner Center is DUG’s main workshop venue in Denver. The gourmet mushroom session is part of the fall growing calendar and pairs well with the food preservation workshops running through the same season.
