Why we picked this
22 spots to plant trees at a community garden on a Monday morning. The work is visible immediately, and the canopy will still be there in ten years.
Denver Urban Gardens is planting trees at Glenbrook Community Garden on Monday morning, April 27. Twenty-two volunteer spots are available — one of the larger workday capacities DUG offers. Tasks include digging, positioning, and planting trees that will expand the garden’s canopy and provide shade and windbreak for the growing plots below.
Shift runs 9 AM to noon. Wear sturdy shoes and clothes you can work in. Bring gloves if you have them; DUG provides tools and direction. No experience necessary. This is part of DUG’s Southwest Sugar Snap Peas program.
Urban tree planting at a community garden serves multiple purposes at once: shade for gardeners, habitat for pollinators, and climate resilience in a neighborhood that needs more canopy cover.
