Volunteer at Fire Cider for the Fall Equinox workshop at Posner Center
Help run DUG's Fire Cider workshop at Posner Center — participants make the classic herbal immune tonic with horseradish, ginger, and fall garden herbs. Fall equinox timing.
Why we picked this
Help participants make fire cider on the fall equinox — grating horseradish, chopping ginger, and filling jars with an apple cider vinegar tonic that's part folk tradition, part practical herbalism.
Fire cider is a traditional herbal tonic — a sharp, spicy infusion of horseradish, ginger, garlic, citrus, and hot peppers in apple cider vinegar — historically used as a cold-weather immune support remedy. DUG’s workshop timed to the fall equinox leans into the seasonal connection: as summer ends, participants make a tonic to carry them into fall.
Volunteers help set up the workspace, assist participants as they prep and combine the ingredients, and support the DUG educator leading the class. Expect a pungent room. The session runs from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on a Tuesday evening.
Posner Center is DUG’s main workshop venue in Denver. The fire cider session is part of the urban herbalism series, which runs through the growing season and into fall to follow the full arc of plant work from identification to final preparation.
