Why we picked this
The Bilingual Soil Superheroes program runs in both English and Spanish — native Spanish speakers are especially useful here. DUG leads the class; you help keep a rotation station moving.
Denver Urban Gardens runs the Bilingual Soil Superheroes program at Doull Elementary for kids ages 5–11. The class introduces young students to soil science and gardening through hands-on activities at rotating stations. You’ll be assigned one station to facilitate while the DUG educator runs the overall session.
Spanish language proficiency is a real plus here — the program is designed to serve a bilingual student population, and Spanish-speaking volunteers make the experience more accessible for kids who aren’t fully comfortable in English yet. DUG will connect with you before the class to coordinate.
Only 2 volunteer spots available. The school is at 2520 S. Utica St. in south Denver. Shift runs approximately noon to 1:30pm.
