Build a bee shelter at Denargo Community Garden
Construct a bee patio cover and pollinator mini-garden at Denargo Community Garden. Bring tools if you have them — saws, drills, hammers. 15 spots available.
Why we picked this
Build a structure from scratch in a community garden — lumber, tools, live bees nearby. Bring your own saws and drills if you have them; garden supplies are provided.
Volunteers at the Denargo Community Garden will construct a bee patio cover and a small pollinator garden to support the resident bee colony. The project involves sawing, hammering, drilling, and assembling structural components — bring hand tools if you have them (saws, hammers, drills, mallets, sawhorses), though garden supplies and materials are provided.
Note that live bees will be on the premises. This is an adults-only project given the tool and bee requirements. There are no bathroom facilities or power outlets on site. Plan for an early start and a few hours of physical work in an outdoor urban garden setting.
Denargo Community Garden is at the corner of Denargo St and Arkins Ct near the National Western complex in Denver. Fifteen volunteer spots are available — register through the DUG volunteer portal.
