Why we picked this

An afternoon building accessible pathways in a school food forest — physical work with a visible result. Ten spots available on a Wednesday afternoon.

This Wednesday afternoon workday at DCIS Fairmont Food Forest focuses on installing a pathway to improve accessibility through the garden space. Volunteers will dig, mulch, and lay crusher fine to complete the path — practical construction work with Denver Urban Gardens staff guiding the project.

Ten volunteer spots are available. The shift runs Wednesday, April 15 from 1 to 4 PM. Wear clothes and shoes you can get dirty in, and bring gloves if you have them. This is part of DUG’s Central Cucumbers program, which develops community garden spaces across central Denver.

The DCIS Fairmont Food Forest is a school community garden — making it accessible means more students and community members can use it throughout the growing season.
