Why we picked this

A two-hour morning workshop that covers the practical basics of composting — what goes in, what doesn't, how to manage a pile, and how to know when it's ready. Outdoor, hands-on, free.

Denver Urban Gardens’ composting workshops at Gove Community Garden walk participants through the fundamentals of building and managing a compost pile. You’ll learn what goes in, what doesn’t, how to get the right moisture and aeration balance, and how to tell when compost is finished and ready to use.

The morning session runs 9–11am and is held outdoors at the garden. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. No prior composting experience needed — this is designed for beginners and curious gardeners alike. A follow-up evening session is also available on June 18 for those who can’t make the morning time.

Gove Community Garden is a Denver Urban Gardens site; the full address is available through the DUG events calendar at dug.org/events/.
