Volunteer at Intro to Canning Fruits workshop at Posner Center
Help DUG educators lead an intro canning workshop at Posner Center in Denver — participants learn water bath canning for jams, jellies, and whole fruits.
Why we picked this
Assist at a hands-on intro canning workshop — participants learn fruit canning technique from scratch. Expect jars, hot water baths, and a kitchen-adjacent learning environment.
Denver Urban Gardens’ food preservation workshops teach participants to extend the harvest beyond the growing season, and the Intro to Canning Fruits session is one of the most hands-on. Participants learn the fundamentals of water bath canning — sterilizing jars, preparing fruit, processing, and sealing — with fresh produce from the DUG network.
Volunteers help set up the workspace, assist participants as they work through the canning process, and support the DUG educator running the class. The workshop runs from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on a weekday evening.
Posner Center is in Denver and serves as DUG’s primary indoor workshop venue. The food preservation series runs throughout summer and fall, aligned with what’s coming out of community gardens across Denver’s 180+ growing sites.
