Why we picked this

Meet at Gove Community Garden at 7:30 AM, load materials, then head to Aurora's WaterWise event to staff a composting display — a morning of fielding questions and signing neighbors up for green carts.

You’ll meet the Denver Urban Gardens team at Gove Community Garden at 7:30 AM to load compost display materials, worm bins, and promotional materials into vehicles before heading to the City of Aurora’s WaterWise event at 15151 E. Alameda Pkwy. The event runs from 8:30 AM to noon, and your job is to staff the DUG booth — answering questions about composting, demonstrating vermiculture, and signing up interested neighbors for Denver’s green cart composting program.

No special composting knowledge is required — DUG staff will brief you on talking points before the event opens. Comfortable walking shoes and sun protection are recommended since the event is primarily outdoors. Two volunteer spots are available for this shift.

The WaterWise event draws hundreds of Aurora residents interested in sustainable home practices. The compost booth is consistently one of the more engaged stops on the floor, and you’ll leave knowing exactly how many new composters you helped recruit.
