Read aloud to preschoolers with Denver Public Library
Visit a preschool classroom in Montbello or Green Valley Ranch once a week to read stories. Twenty minutes, fourteen weeks, books provided.
Why we picked this
Twenty minutes of reading to preschoolers once a week — the smallest time commitment on our site, and Spanish speakers are especially needed.
Denver Public Library’s Read Aloud program places volunteers in preschool classrooms in the Montbello and Green Valley Ranch neighborhoods. You visit the same classroom once a week, read stories to kids ages 3-5 for about 20-30 minutes, and head out. The spring semester runs January through May — roughly 14 weeks.
Sessions happen on weekdays between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. You’ll need to pass a background check, and DPL provides all materials and training. Spanish-speaking volunteers are especially needed, though English-only readers are welcome too.
The spring 2026 semester is already underway, so contact rda@denverlibrary.org or call 720-865-0320 to ask about mid-cycle openings or get on the list for the next round. Applications for each semester typically open a few weeks before it starts.
