Why we picked this

A shorter, tighter version of the earlier September wetlands walk — good for anyone who wants a second look at the same route as migration keeps turning over.

Walk the Wetlands returns to Kingery Nature Center for a shorter late-September edition of the guided route through the South Platte River corridor’s riparian wetlands. Migration is still active this late in the month, with warblers, shorebirds, and waterfowl continuing to stage in the wetlands before pushing south.

Audubon Master Birders lead the walk, pointing out species and comparing what’s moving through now against earlier in the month. The route is flat and easy, suited to most fitness levels.

The walk runs 8 to 9:30 AM. All skill levels welcome. Free, with a $5 suggested donation. Kingery Nature Center is at 11280 Waterton Rd. in Littleton.
