Walk the Wetlands — September guided bird walk at Kingery Nature Center
Free guided bird walk along South Platte wetlands at Denver Audubon's Kingery Nature Center. Early fall migrants moving through. Sep 6, 8–11:30 AM MDT.
Why we picked this
September flips the script from the July edition of this walk — instead of settled breeding residents, you're watching the first wave of southbound migrants stage in the wetlands before continuing on.
Walk the Wetlands returns to Kingery Nature Center for its September edition, a three-mile guided route through the South Platte River corridor’s riparian wetlands. Fall migration is underway by early September, and the wetlands here become a staging ground for warblers, shorebirds, and waterfowl moving south.
Audubon Master Birders lead the walk, pointing out species and explaining how to tell a resting migrant from a settled resident at this time of year. The pace and terrain are the same as other editions — flat, easy walking suited to most fitness levels.
The walk runs 8 to 11:30 AM. All skill levels welcome. Free, with a $5 suggested donation. Kingery Nature Center is at 11280 Waterton Rd. in Littleton.
