Why we picked this

A two-hour hands-on workshop where you learn why native plants matter for birds and leave with seeds you actually planted yourself — practical and timed right for spring.

This hands-on workshop covers the relationship between native plants and birds — why it matters which plants are in your yard or garden, and how to start growing native species from seed. Participants sow their own native plant seeds during the session and take them home for spring planting. The workshop runs two hours, from 2 to 4 PM at the Kingery Nature Center in Littleton.

No gardening experience is required. The event is free and open to all ages. Register through the Denver Audubon events page. Kingery is off Waterton Road in Littleton, accessible by car.

Growing native plants in urban and suburban yards is one of the more direct contributions individuals can make to local bird habitat. This workshop gives you the knowledge and the seeds to start.
