Why we picked this

Co-sponsored with Denver Field Ornithologists, this stretch of the South Platte corridor is a reliable fall migration channel — a good pick for anyone who's walked the Wetlands or Belmar routes and wants to try a new section of river.

Denver Audubon teams up with Denver Field Ornithologists for a free guided walk along the South Platte River, starting at Reynolds Landing and following the river corridor north toward Denver. The riverside trail attracts migrating waterfowl and riparian songbirds as they move south for the fall.

The walk is flat and paved for most of its length, suited to a range of fitness levels, with experienced guides from both organizations pointing out species along the way.

Free and open to birders of all experience levels. The walk runs 8 to 11 AM, meeting at Reynolds Landing.
