Why we picked this
Co-sponsored with High Line Canal Conservancy, this count walk feeds into a global citizen-science effort — a chance to contribute real data while learning the canal's year-round bird life.
Denver Audubon partners with the High Line Canal Conservancy for a free guided walk along the historic canal trail, counting species as part of a global citizen-science effort. The canal’s tree cover and shrubby edges make it a dependable corridor for both resident and migrating birds.
Guides from both organizations help with identification, and the species logged during the walk get submitted to contribute to the larger count.
Free and open to all skill levels, including first-time birders. The walk runs 8:30 to 10:30 AM along the canal trail.
