Wild Tunes volunteer musician program at Denver Animal Shelter — August
Play live music for shelter animals at Denver Animal Shelter to reduce stress. Open to musicians of any age and skill level. Entry through the August 8 orientation.
Why we picked this
Live music in a shelter reduces kennel stress measurably — the August 8 orientation is the entry point for Wild Tunes musicians. Any instrument, any skill level, any age.
The Wild Tunes program places volunteer musicians in the Denver Animal Shelter to play live music for animals, helping reduce the stress that comes with kennel life. Research supports the calming effect of live music on shelter animals, and the program welcomes musicians of any skill level and any age.
After attending the standard volunteer orientation (Saturday, 10am–noon), Wild Tunes volunteers commit to 2 shifts per month. Any acoustic or quiet amplified instrument is welcome — you don’t need to be performing, just present and playing.
