Play live music for shelter animals at Denver Animal Shelter
Musicians of any age and skill level perform calming live music for dogs and cats at Denver's city shelter. Two shifts per month.
Why we picked this
If you play any instrument at any level, this is one of the most unusual volunteer gigs in Denver β performing live music to help shelter animals decompress.
Wild Tunes partners with Denver Animal Shelter to bring live music into the kennels. The idea is simple: calming music reduces stress in shelter animals, and you donβt need to be a concert-level performer to help. Any instrument, any skill level, any age.
The commitment is two shifts per month at the shelter on West Bayaud Avenue. Youβll register first through WildTunes.org, then apply to the Denver Animal Shelter volunteer program and attend a monthly orientation (the next one is March 14). After that, you sign up for regular shifts.
Bring your own instrument and a willingness to play for an audience that wonβt judge your technique. The dogs tend to prefer acoustic and mellow β but the cats, apparently, are less picky.
