Denver Animal Shelter volunteer orientation — September 2026
Attend the monthly volunteer orientation at Denver Animal Shelter. Two-hour Saturday session for ages 16+. Unlocks regular volunteer shifts with shelter animals.
Why we picked this
The September 12 orientation is the entry point for regular shelter shifts — a two-hour Saturday morning that pays off with months of hands-on time with dogs and cats.
The Denver Animal Shelter holds monthly volunteer orientations on Saturdays from 10am to noon at 1241 W Bayaud Ave. The session covers how the shelter operates, what to expect from volunteer shifts, and how to sign up for regular time with dogs, cats, and other animals in the shelter’s care.
After orientation, regular volunteers commit to 2 hours per week or 8 hours per month for at least six months. Those 18 and older are required to pass a background check. The September 12 orientation is a good fit for anyone looking to start a routine before the holidays crowd the calendar.
Apply through the link above — the application portal opens approximately two weeks before each orientation date, so aim to apply around late August for the September session.
