Why we picked this

Hands-on kitchen work preparing real meals for real people — chopping, stirring, packing. Three shift options Monday through Wednesday, and hundreds of open slots through July.

Project Angel Heart prepares and delivers medically tailored meals to people living with life-threatening illnesses across Colorado. Their Denver kitchen at 4950 Washington Street runs volunteer shifts Monday through Wednesday with three time slots: morning (8:30-11:30 AM), afternoon (1:00-4:00 PM), and evening (5:00-7:30 PM). Tasks include chopping, slicing, bagging, scooping, stirring, blending, baking, and cleanup.

Before your first shift, you’ll need to attend a new volunteer orientation — in-person sessions run through April 18, and virtual options are available in March. There’s a background check ($20.35 fee). Dress code is straightforward: hat of any style, shirt with sleeves, closed-toe shoes, and tie back long hair.

Slots are open through July 2026 and the calendar shows hundreds of openings. One shift per week is recommended but not required. Contact Aaron Strock at astrock@projectangelheart.org or 303-407-9408 with kitchen-specific questions.
