Kitchen assistant afternoon shift at Project Angel Heart
Help prep and cook medically tailored meals for Denver neighbors living with serious illness. Afternoon shifts run 1–4 PM weekdays through August 2026.
Why we picked this
Same kitchen work as the morning crew — chopping, cooking, packaging — but you don't have to be up at dawn. Show up at 1 PM, cook something real for someone who needs it, and you're out by 4.
Afternoon kitchen volunteers at Project Angel Heart do the same hands-on meal preparation as the morning crew: chopping, slicing, scooping, blending, baking, and cleaning up after a full production kitchen. You’re cooking medically tailored meals for Denver neighbors living with serious illness — people whose doctors have prescribed specific nutritional needs that most of them can’t meet on their own.
The dress code is simple: closed-toe shoes, sleeves, and a hat (provided if needed). Hair tied back. Nothing else required — staff walks new volunteers through everything. With nearly 600 afternoon slots open through August, you can pick any weekday that works for you.
The kitchen is at 4925 Moline St with free parking nearby. Orientation is required before your first shift; book it through the volunteer portal before signing up for a kitchen slot.
