Why we picked this

Packing the bags that get delivered the next day — you sit at the intersection of kitchen and delivery here, and the right meal reaching the right person depends on this step.

Distribution volunteers at Project Angel Heart work on Thursdays from 9 AM to noon, sorting and packing meal bags for delivery to clients the following day. Each client has specific medical dietary needs, so the work involves matching the right meal to the right bag — it’s detail-oriented, and it matters. More than 200 Thursday slots are open through late summer 2026.

Ages 13 and up are welcome with a guardian; volunteers 16 and older can come independently. Groups are welcome. The facility is at 4950 Washington St in Denver with on-site parking. Orientation is required before your first shift; book through the volunteer portal.

This shift sits between the kitchen (where meals are cooked) and the delivery drivers (who bring them to clients’ homes). Both depend on the distribution crew getting the packing right.
